FAQ about purchasing, licensing and using Planbook
- How much does Planbook cost? Who can use Planbook once a license is purchased?
- What about the free trial? How does that work?
- How do I purchase Planbook?
- I've purchased Planbook. How do I put it on my computer(s)?
- Help- I lost my serial number!
- How much do upgrades cost?
- Do I need to purchase both the Mac and Windows versions of Planbook?
Planbook is 30 dollars (US) for a single user license. A single user license is valid for one person to use the program. That user may install Planbook on as many computers as they use. However, if other users are going to use the program they should have their own license. Very reasonable site licensing rates are available. I've also started offering a "family pack" license for users with more than one educator under the same roof. For $40, all the people in one household can use Planbook.
All site licenses include allowing licensed users to install the program on their school and home computers. Licensees do not need to purchase a separate license to use the program at home. A 25 user license, for example, allows 25 teachers to use the program both at home and at school.

There is a fully functional trial available for Mac and Windows. The only limitation of the trial is that you can only enter 15 lessons before being required to purchase the software.
Purchasing Planbook is simple. When purchasing Planbook, you are actually buying a license to use the program. This license will come with a serial number and this serial number is used to convert the trial version of the program into the full version. There is no separate download for the full version. The easiest way to purchase is to:
- Download the free trial version of the program.
- Create or open a new file.
- Use the File-->Purchase menu item. Once you complete the purchase process, your copy of Planbook will automatically be updated to the full version.
- Visit my eSellerate store
- Choose the appropriate license.
- Complete the purchase process.
- You will see a receipt (and will also receive it via email). Follow the steps in the next question to activate your trial copy of the program.
Once you've purchased Planbook, you need to activate the trial copy of the program to get the full version on your computer. To do so, follow these steps:
- Download the trial version of Planbook onto your computer. Make sure to get the right version (Mac or Windows.
- Open an existing file, or create a new one, using the trial version.
- Use the File-->Activate Existing Serial Number menu item.
- Enter the serial number you received via email into the window that pops up.
- That's it.
Drop me an email and I'll email it back to you. It really helps if you can provide the name or email address you used to purchase the software.
Thus far upgrades have been free. I intend to keep it that way. The reason I can do this is because my customers have been wonderful at spreading the word about Planbook to new teachers. If you can, please let others know about the program. You can "like" the Planbook Facebook Page and let your Facebook friends know about it.
Providing free upgrades is an almost unheard of business plan- the only way it works is if you let others know about Planbook. Thanks for anything you can do to help.

No- a single license covers both the Mac and Windows versions of the software. Be aware that files created on one operating system are not compatible with the other. I am actively working to resolve this problem.
Site licenses are also cross platform- some teachers may use Windows and others Mac.
